Rethinking everything I thought to be true...

Today I had one of those moments where I had to rethink everything I thought to be true. The song
Mambo Number Five by Lou Bega used to be one of my favorite songs back when it came out in 1999, and I'm comfortable admitting that the song is still on my iPod. The song came up when I was listening to my iPod on random play today, and I was aghast when I realized that I had been singing some of the lyrics incorrectly for the past eight years. The section in question:
"To me flirting it's just like sport, anything fly
It's all good let
me dump it
Please set in the trumpet"
I had always thought the lyric was "to me flirting is just like a sword", and as silly as I thought the song was, I thought this was a clever lyric. Because I thought Lou Bega was creating a metaphor of flirting as a double-edged sword that could both be beneficial and harmful to him... I really gave old Lou too much credit. Because instead of that almost poetic lyric, today I finally heard that lyric for what it was- a stupid line about sports and dumping and trumpets.
