Iceberg, right ahead...

So today I was looking out my window, staring into my neighbor's living room (voyeur, i know), when I noticed that my neighbor had a painting of the Titanic on his wall. Uh...who hangs artwork of an infamous sinking ship on their living room wall? Why would someone do this?
Is this supposed to be a conversation starter when company is over?Friend: What a lovely painting of the Titanic!
Titanic painting dude: Isn't it? Such a tragically beautiful portrait.
Friend: It's a shame that the fated boat had to meet such a cruel demise, but thank god an artist preserved the boat in its moment of glory!
Is this person a fan of the movie Titanic?Titanic painting dude: I thought about buying a framed poster of the movie, but it just looked tacky. This reproduction of a watercolor painting of the original ship looks so much better.
Did a relative of this person die on the Titanic, and is this their way of honoring them?
Titanic painting dude: My great-grandfather died on this ship. (Gestures at painting, it is hanging right next to a poster that says "Beer: the reason I get up every afternoon.")
I can think of no rational explanation why a sentient human being would hang such a thing on their wall. Perhaps I'll make a large posterboard that says "Why the hell do you have a painting of the Titanic?" and put it in my window. Maybe I'll get a response. If I didn't already have to move, this Titanic incident might've driven me out of the neighborhood anyway.
