Sometimes you have to distance yourself from something in order to honestly see what's in front of you.  After a seven year (and counting) hiatus from figure skating, I think that I'm finally able to see that male figure skaters are a bit, how shall we put it, effeminate.  I've denied it for years, but when I was watching a Stars on Ice show yesterday suddenly everything was becoming crystal clear.  Do masculine men wear patent leather pants and silk shirts? No.  Do masculine men do interpretive dances to the theme from JFK? Do masculine men have the ability to kick their legs up higher than their heads? No, and if they do, they shouldn't.  Male figure skaters are kind of fruity.  Hmph.
