John Cusack made me act the fool...

I've never been John Cusack's biggest fan, but after hearing the praises of "Lloyd Dobler" in "Say Anything" being sung for so long, I figured it was time to rent the movie and give him another shot. Apparently after you see John Cusack in the movie, you can't help but love him. So last night I watched the movie in its entirety (or so I thought), and was left feeling lukewarm at the end. Sure, his character was pretty sweet, but I wondered what all the fuss was about. Then I realized that I didn't remember seeing the notorious scene where Lloyd stands in front of the girl's window with a boom box over his head. At first I assumed that I must've falsely attributed that scene to "Say Anything" and that it was probably from another brat pack movie, but when I picked up the dvd box there was John Cusack on the front, majestically holding up a boom box. How could I have missed the most important scene of the movie?!? I went through the scene selection menu, and the boom box scene was there. I tried selecting it, but the dvd was scratched or somehow distorted so that it wouldn't play the boom box scene. I felt bad about not being able to give John Cusack a fair shake so I went back to Blockbuster today, but their other copy of "Say Anything" was already checked out, so I'm still left feeling less than jazzed about Mr. Cusack.
