If you're in New York, I highly suggest you check out the new musical
I Love You Because.
I audited the BMI first year workshop the authors' first year, and it's
impressive to see a work of theirs achieve production less than a year
after that. The show is smartly written, and it's uber-adorable,
with a great cast. Colin Hanlon plays the male lead, and I've
always had nothing but good things to say about him since seeing him in
tick, tick...BOOM! and
The Last 5 Years.
Something else that brings me great joy, is
The Lonely Island.
These are the dudes who are behind the "Lazy Sunday" video, and I might
make the claim that some of their other work triumphs the hilarity of
Lazy Sunday. They're three guys who've been friends since
childhood, and after making a bunch of digital shorts and parody
videos, they've now found themselves writing for Saturday Night
Live. I highly recommend watching "Just 2 Guyz" and "Oops...oh
my".
And a moment of silence, if you will, for
Arrested Development.
After three years of being jerked around, this amazing television gem
has most likely aired its final episode. We won't get official
word until June 15th, but rumor on the streets is Mitch Hurwitz isn't
sure if he wants to continue with the show, and a few cast members
don't want to return because of the way they're being treated in this
"indefinite hiatus". I know a lot of people aren't aware of this
series, but honestly, you haven't lived until you've watched it.
